Applications Available for The Hawley Foundation for Children  Community Grants and Camp Awards

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The Hawley Foundation for Children is accepting funding requests for its Community Grants and Camp Awards. Local organizations that assist youth in our community and best realize the Foundation’s mission of promoting the health, welfare and education of children in Saratoga County are invited to apply no later than March 1, 2023, at HawleyFoundation.org. Funding criteria includes but is not limited to:

• Organizations must serve disadvantaged children in Saratoga County
• Organizations must have a 501(c)(3) non-profit status
• Programs to be funded must demonstrate the ability and commitment to benefit, enhance and enrich the quality of life and well-being of children

Applicants will be notified in early April and funds distributed at an Award Ceremony in May.  For more information, please contact info@hawleyfoundation.org.

In 2022, The Hawley Foundation awarded over $160,000 to the Saratoga County community towards Community Grants, Camp Awards, College Grants to high school seniors who are college-bound or vocational-oriented, as well as returning college students, and as discretionary funds to assist children on a case-by-case basis who are in financial need and reside in Saratoga County.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, June 2022 – The Hawley Foundation for Children is proud to announce that nine students from Saratoga Springs High School and Saratoga Central Catholic High School were awarded a total of $20,000 through its College Incentive Awards Program. These students met the Hawley Foundation requirements by exemplifying motivation, diligence, community volunteering, and academic success to pursue an undergraduate education in a two or four-year college, a community college, or vocational or trade school.

The college recipients of these grants are:

Jasmeen Bhattal will attend University of Rhode Island, majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology

Mekhia Bronwyn will attend SUNY College of Environmental Science, with an undeclared major

Dylan Fish will attend Rochester Institute of Technology, majoring in Exploration, Stem Minor

Crystal Fierros-Garcia will attend Cazenovia College, majoring in Fashion Design

Daniel Mantia will attend SUNY Cortland, Majoring in Exercise Science

Lucas Mergendahl will attend SUNY Adirondack, majoring in Accounting

Alise Morgan will attend Le Moyne College, majoring in Biology/Forensic Science

Anitza Parrilla will attend Sienna College, majoring in Chemistry/Pre-Med

The Hawley Foundation has a tradition of assisting youth in our community through grants to organizations, individuals and college-bound or vocational-oriented students to best realize The Foundation’s mission of promoting the health, welfare and education of children in Saratoga County.

The Hawley Foundation awards an average of $130,000 annually. Applications for grants are offered annually in January/February for consideration by the Board. In addition to the College Incentive Grants, The Hawley Foundation also distributes Community Grants and Camp Awards, as well as discretionary funding to assist children on a case-by-case basis who are in financial need and reside in Saratoga County.

 

The Hawley Foundation for Children awards $17,000 to High School Students in 2021

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, June 2021 – The Hawley Foundation for Children is proud to announce that four students from Saratoga Springs High School and three students from Saratoga Central Catholic High School were awarded a total of $17,000 through its College Incentive Awards Program. These students met the Hawley Foundation requirements by exemplifying motivation, diligence, community volunteering, and academic success to pursue an undergraduate education in a two or four-year college, a community college, or vocational or trade school.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, June 2022 – The Hawley Foundation held their annual awards ceremony on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Embassy Suites in Saratoga Springs.  Over 60 community nonprofit organizations, high school graduates, board and community members were in attendance.  Promoting the health, welfare, and education of children in Saratoga County, The Hawley Foundation awarded $110,000 in community and camp grants, plus an additional $20,000 in high school scholarships.

The Hawley Foundation provides camp awards to Saratoga County organizations that provide summer camp opportunities, designed to offset camp fees for children in need. Community Grant Awards provide funding to not-for-profit organizations who have Saratoga County’s children’s welfare or well-being as their main objective. College Grants are provided to high school seniors who will be entering college or a vocational school.

The 2022 camp and community recipients of the 2022 grants are:  AIM Services, Inc., Ballston Area Community Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region, CAPTAIN Community Human Services, Inc., Catholic Charities, CCE of Saratoga County, City of Saratoga Springs Recreation Department, Franklin Community Center, Inc., Glens Falls Area Youth Center, Inc., LifeWorks Community Action, Mechanicville Area Community Services Center, Race Track Chaplaincy, Rebuilding Together Saratoga County, Saratoga Center for the Family, Saratoga Children’s Theatre, Inc., Saratoga Regional YMCA, The SNACpack Program, Inc., Stomping Ground Camp, Inc.,  Town of Wilton – Wilton Recreation.

The Foundation’s history dates back to 1888. Since that time, its endowment, enhanced by various estates and wills, has allowed a board of directors to continue Hawley’s tradition of assisting youth in our community through grants to organizations, individuals, and to best realize the Foundation’s mission of promoting the health, welfare and education of children in Saratoga County. College scholarships totaling $17,000, plus a discretionary fund to assist Saratoga County children in financial need on a case-by-case basis round out the donations. The Foundation awards an average of $130,000 annually.

 

 

The Hawley Foundation for Children awards $114,500 in Community and Camp Grants in 2021

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, June 2021 – The Hawley Foundation for Children is proud to announce their grant recipients of 2021.

The Hawley Foundation’s Community Grant Program provides funding to not-for-profit organizations demonstrating the ability and commitment to serve the neediest children within Saratoga County. Twelve local nonprofits were awarded Community Grants, totaling $46,900: AIM Services, CAPTAIN Community Human Services, Catholic Charities of Saratoga, Children’s Museum of Saratoga, CREATE Community Studios, Glens Falls Area Youth Center, Lifeworks Community Action, Pitney Meadows Community Farm, Rebuilding Together Saratoga County, Roundabout Runners Club, SNACpack Program, and Wellspring.

The Hawley Foundation also provides Camp Awards to organizations that provide camperships for children with identified needs in Saratoga County. Ten local nonprofits were awarded these grants in 2021, totaling $67,600: Ballston Area Community Center, Camp Abilities Saratoga, CAPTAIN CHS, Mechanicville Area Community Services, Racetrack Chaplaincy of America, Saratoga Regional YMCA, Salvation Army, Saratoga Springs Recreation Department, Wilton Recreation, and Wellspring.

Applications for grants in 2022 will be available as of January 1, 2022, at HawleyFoundation.org. Organizations applying for grants must have children’s welfare or well-being as their main objective, with priority given to organizations that serve the highest number of children in Saratoga County.
